Walsall Academy, main entranceWalsall Academy
Walsall Academy opened in September 2003. It is built on the site of a former LEA secondary school. The School has Design and Technology, Science and Performing Arts as its specialisms. The School will eventually have some 1200 students on roll, both girls and boys, of which 300 will be in the sixth form. The Head is a former Deputy Head of Thomas Telford School. The Mercers’ Company and Thomas Telford School are joint sponsors.

Sandwell Academy
Sandwell Academy opened in September 2006. The Academy has Sport and Business as its specialism. The Academy will eventually have 1200 students on roll, both boys and girls,  of which 300 will be in the sixth form. The Mercers’ Company will be joined by the following as joint sponsors, Thomas Telford School, HSBC, Tarmac PLC and West Bromwich Albion Football Club.  The Headmaster is a former Deputy Head of Thomas Telford School.
 
Both the Walsall Academy and the Sandwell Academy are designed to build upon the models of the curriculum and pastoral arrangements developed at Thomas Telford School.

Madeley Academy

Madeley Academy was established in 2007, suceeding the former Madeley Court School. It is an 11-16 Academy for boys and girls with a specialism in Sport. The Mercers' Company is not a sponsor but supports the school through governance and grant-making.

Academies in Development

Hammersmith Academy
The Mercers' Company is currently involved in the feasibility stage of a new academy project in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Together with our co-sponsors, the Information Technologists' Company, we plan to establish a new 11-18 school of 780 pupils, with ICT and Digital Media as specialisms.
