Principal Object
The Housing Association was formed in 1983 to develop housing for the elderly, primarily in Inner London.  It is registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 and is a registered charity.
 
The Management Committee is formed of members of the Mercers’ Company with the appropriate skills and experience and the chairman is a member of the Court of Assistants of the Mercers’ Company.
 
The Association’s first sheltered housing scheme, Mercers’ House, 384 – 388 Essex Road, London N1, was designed by John Melvin Architects and opened in 1991.  The second sheltered housing scheme, Priory House, 3 Sans Walk, Clerkenwell, London EC1, was designed by Levitt Bernstein Architects and opened in 1997.  Between them the two schemes provide 49 affordable homes for elderly Islington residents.  There is a resident manager at each scheme
