The Livery Profile Survey, produced by the Mercers Company, shows that the City of London’s Livery Companies last year gave more than £41million to charity in the UK, over half of which was spent on education-related causes and almost one third on welfare/relief.
The survey is supported by the City’s Lord Mayor Alderman David Wootton and his predecessor Alderman Michael Bear.
Lord Mayor David Wootton said: “The City’s Livery Companies make a huge contribution to society, with connections throughout the country
"The leaflet highlights the financial contribution they make, but also the expertise, enthusiasm and goodwill they give to so many good causes. I will spend my year in office shining a light on the good they do – in supporting young people, the armed forces or helping some of the most vulnerable members of society."
The key results of the survey have been condensed into a new publication, accessible below which outlines the contribution that Livery Companies make to all aspects of society.
