2022-2023 Philanthropy
The numbers

In 2022-2023 we awarded 96 grants to 94 organisations, totalling £4.81 million of new grants.

Our Young People & Education programme aims to provide brighter futures for the next generation by helping young people achieve a good start in life, have strong mental health and feel supported through challenging transitions.

We work with selected charity partners across connected strands of work, including: Special Initiatives (Early Years, Literacy and Transitions); Young People’s Mental Health & Wellbeing; Associated Schools & Colleges (ASCs) (16 ASCs supported by the Mercers’ Company); and School Leadership.

Our Older People & Housing programme works to combat loneliness and poverty, believing that older people deserve the right support and opportunities to lead a healthy and connected life. We support not-for-profit, community led organisations that combat loneliness in older people and poverty faced by older people.

Our Church & Communities programme believes that people thrive when communities thrive. The C&C programme has worked throughout 2022-2023 to provide support and funding for disadvantage communities, homelessness and refugees and families facing poverty.
